Our poor friend the Dormouse fell into a teapot full of gin at one of JdV's luxuriant tea parties. Our pet Dove determinedly tried to fish him out. Alas, he did not complete the rescue in a timely (or sober) fashion and ended up pickled himself... The lugubrious yet spectacular result, a desiccated Mouse/Dove claw brooch with topaz set eyes.
